Description

About Dr. Aslam In everyday language, the work of Hafiz Muhammad Aslam, MD, revolves around dealing with blood-related issues and cancer. His father, a distinguished professor of internal medicine at Karachi, Pakistan, significantly influenced his choice to pursue a career in internal medicine. The field, he says, “Presents the chance to forge enduring patient relationships, delivering comprehensive care that leaves a lasting imprint on their health and overall well-being. The diagnostic puzzles and ongoing learning inherent in internal medicine resonate perfectly with my thirst for intellectual enrichment and my commitment to positively impact individuals' lives." He earned his medical degree at Dow Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. His residency was at St. Francis Medical Center, Seton Hall University, NJ, followed by a fellowship in Hematology-Oncology at East Carolina University, NC. “As I pursued my medical education, I discovered that hematology oncology was the ideal fit for me. It blends scientific knowledge with the opportunity to provide compassionate care to patients dealing with life-changing diagnoses, ” Dr. Aslam says. He wants his patients to know that his approach to medicine is patient-centered, evidence-based, and deeply compassionate. “I prioritize open communication, collaboration, and continuous learning to provide the best care possible, always with the patient's well-being at the forefront, ” he says. Dr. Aslam says patients have taught him the importance of resilience, empathy, personalized care, effective communication, lifelong learning, collaboration, and gratitude in medicine. “Their experiences have enriched my practice and reinforced my commitment to providing the best care possible, ” he says. In his own words… Who is or was the most influential people/role models in your life?  All my teachers and my father. What was your first job growing up? I embarked on my internship at Civil Hospital Karachi immediately after graduating from Dow University of Health Sciences. It was here that I gained invaluable experience in navigating the challenges of working in a resource-restrained healthcare facility … It laid the foundation for my commitment to healthcare and the pursuit of excellence in my subsequent medical endeavors. What is your favorite food? Movie?  Food: Chinese fried rice accompanied by honey walnut shrimp.  Movie: 'Shawshank Redemption' holds the top spot in my favorites list. What was your best/worst subjects in school growing up?  As for academic interests, I have a strong inclination towards chemistry and biology. If you could sit down to dinner with anyone (alive or deceased) who would it be and why?  I want to have a dinner with my whole family who is scattered in different regions of the world. In addition to medicine, what are you passionate about?  Traveling has been a significant part of my life. To date, I've had the opportunity to visit over 25 cities across the United States.
